Decorative Santa with oversized toybag, holding a bird and resting his knee on a wood stump. A very large and solid carving richly painted in deep burgundy and gold with Santa holding a cute little bird in his hand. Beautifully finished. This Russian Santa Claus  is hand carved from solid linden, also known as either basswood or lime. Once carved and sanded the Santa is meticulously hand painted and finished in extraordinary detail with numerous coats and finally signed or initialed by the artist.
